Have you ever had a “Jack-In-The-Box”?
Kids love them! How they laugh when Jack jumps out of his box! Mummy will just love it when she opens her gift on Mother’s Day.

There is nothing more heart-warming than a surprise that children make themselves!

The best thing about my Do-It-Yourself idea for this year’s Mother’s Day gift is that it’s so easy to make, that even kids can help. As always, the number 1 ruleis: don’t look for perfection.
Even if it’s a bit smudged with glue, a gift made by the kids will go straight to Mummy’s heart.

Aunts and Uncles, older brothers and sisters, and teachers: take out your Do-It-Yourself box and start building your surprise in the box!

You will need:

  • a box with a lid
  • sheets of different coloured paper or coloured post-its
  • a punch to make shapes (hearts, stars, circles, etc.)
  • stickers in different sizes
  • thread
  • a pair of scissors
  • Sellotape
  • glue
  • crayons

Instructions:

Utilizzando il perforatore, ritagliate dalla carta le vostre forme preferite. Se non avete a portata di mano questo strumento, potete realizzare una sagoma e ritagliare le forme dalla carta con le forbici.

With the punch cut out your favourite shapes from the paper. If you don’t have a punch, draw in the shapes and cut them out with your scissors.

Take a piece of thread, leaving a length of about 20 cm and fix it on your paper shapes. To do this, apply a drop of glue on one side of the paper, place the thread at the centre of this side and then place another shape of the same kind on top. The thread will now be between the two shapes. If you use stickers, you will obviously not need glue. Now make two funny eyes with the stickers by placing a black one on a bigger white one.

Once you have finished your chain, cut the thread leaving another length of a couple of centimetres. Now fix one end to the lid of the box with the sticky tape and the other end to the bottom.

If you like, you can write a message for Mummy on the lid.

She will just love your surprise!
